Chesapeake Program Offers Fast Track to Health Care Career
Program Information Session set for Dec. 2 at Cambridge Center
CAMBRIDGE – Prospective students interested in the Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA) Program at Chesapeake College are invited to an information session on Dec. 2 at 6 pm in the Chesapeake College Cambridge Center on Race Street.
The program director, instructors and representatives from the Workforce Scholarship Office will be on hand to provide information about the program requirements and funding opportunities. In addition, Choptank Community Health and University of Maryland Medical System representatives will discuss regional employment opportunities for CMAs.
“The field for Clinical Medical Assistants is growing rapidly in our region,” said Program Director Lisa Widmaier. “CMA positions provide an entry into the health care field. Students who complete our program find jobs in doctor’s offices, urgent care centers and outpatient clinics. This is a rewarding career with growth potential and many opportunities.”
The next CMA cohort is scheduled to begin Feb. 2 and will run through September. Classes run in the Cambridge Center on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 9:30 pm, plus during the day on Saturdays. The compressed schedule allows students to finish the program in nine months.
For more information about the information session or the CMA program, please contact Lisa Widmaier at [email protected].
