Chesapeake Student Earns National Honor

Chesapeake Student Earns National Honor

Rebecca Jones of Chester was one of only six students in Maryland to receive a national 2016 Coca Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship for Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Members.

This year’s 206 national recipients were selected by a panel of independent judges from more than 1,100 applicants. Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholars are selected based on outstanding academic achievement and demonstrated leadership potential.

Jones, a Liberal Arts and Sciences major, is in her second year at Chesapeake College. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She hopes to eventually earn a bachelor’s degree and become a marine biologist.

“PTK has helped me realize my own potential. My experience with PTK at Chesapeake has broaden my horizons and given me so many new opportunities,’ Jones said.
