Lowrie named to 40 under 40

Assistant Professor Bridget Lowrie was named to the “Top 40 under 40” list for the  American Association for Women in Community Colleges.

Ms. Lowrie leads the Criminal Justice and Legal Studies programs at Chesapeake.

in addition to teaching classes in both career programs, Ms. Lowrie works to provide real-world learning opportunities for her students.

Ms. Lowrie developed a partnership in 2016 with Mid-Shore Pro Bono to offer free community legal clinics on Chesapeake’s campus. Chesapeake’s legal studies students  have the opportunity to work alongside attorneys in the clinic.

A community college advocate and alumna, Ms. Lowrie earned an associate’s degree at Prince George’s Community College, a bachelor’s degree from American University and her law degree from University of Maryland School of Law.

“I can’t work without the passion of my fellow faculty menbers, and co-workers, and my amazing students,” Ms. Lowrie said of the honor. “My dream for community colleges is that they remain inspiring and innovative resources for the community.”
