Skipjacks Giving Back off the Court

Skipjacks Giving Back off the Court

Chesapeake Skipjacks demonstrate their dedication and teamwork in both the classroom and during competitions. Members of the women’s basketball team recently took those attributes to a community service project when they worked on a Habitat for Humanity Choptank build in Easton. Click here for more.

“We encourage our student-athletes to become involved in our community. Being on athletics teams at Chesapeake is a privilege, and it carries some responsibility,” said Director of Athletics Frank Szymanski. “We want our student-athletes to look beyond our campus and take opportunities to give back in the community.”

Student-athletes have helped with Habitat projects for the last two years.

The Skipjacks who worked on the Easton build were: Chantelle Gross, Reeva Jackson, Janice Ladson, Shahara Madison, Chandni Taylor, Emily Truitt and Deondria Wimber. Coaches Gwen Barnes, Alex Barnes, and Marcus Wood also participated in the build.
