Students Lobby for Legislative Support
Chesapeake College students recently joined community college students from across the state at the annual Student Advocacy Day in Annapolis. Chesapeake President Barbara Viniar accompanied the students on their legislative journey.
“The students had a great day. Most of the students had never been to the Capital or met their delegates. For them, it was an exhilarating experience to tell their story and make a case for continued funding for Chesapeake College,” said Interim Dean for Student Affairs Joan Seitzer said.
The Chesapeake delegation included students Audrey Stultz of Ridgley, Sam Steen of Stevensville, Will Alderson of Centreville, Karli Casey of Chestertown, Laurie Quinn of Kennedyville, and Maria Delgado-Myers of Cambridge
“It was a pleasure to represent Chesapeake College for Student Advocacy Day, where I was able to support a cause of great importance and observe the workings of state government. It was an honor to have the opportunity to personally meet with local legislators to share how my community college experience has furthered my personal and professional growth,” Ms. Stultz said.
The Chesapeake delegation visited the offices of the following legislators: Del. Chris Adams, Del. Steve Arentz, Sen. Addie Eckardt, Del. Jeff Ghrist, Sen. Steve Hershey, Del. Jay Jacobs, Del. Johnny Mautz, and Del. Sheree Sample-Hughes.
