Upward Bound Summer Academy provides learning and mentorship
While most local high schools pursued the usual summer activities, 52 scholars from area high schools spent the summer on Chesapeake College’s campus engaged in learning experiences and mentorship through the Upward Bound Summer Academy.
The summer academy activities included study skills workshops, test-taking workshops, resume building workshops, cultural field trips, College campus tours, visiting speakers, grade-level seminars and academic classes. The experience culminated with a banquet at the BAAM Center in Easton.
In congratulating the students, Terry Perkins-Black quoted Anatole Francis, “To accomplish great things we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.”
The following students were recognized for Summer Academy awards:
- Highest GPA to Fatima Amjad from Colonel Richardson High School with a 4.4375 cumulative GPA.
