Community Donations Reward Deserving Students
The Chesapeake College Foundation is providing $106,592 in scholarship aid to the college for the 2016-2017 academic year. Over the last year, the Foundation established three new endowed scholarship funds.
Each year the Foundation reviews its endowments and awards a portion of the funds for scholarships. Donors include corporations, foundations, individuals and families. The minimum required to create an endowed scholarship is $10,000.
Director of Financial Aid Mindy Schaffer said the endowed scholarships are a vital part of the financial aid program at Chesapeake.
“These funds provide an incredible opportunity for students to be recognized for the higher academic achievement, and also to bridge the gap between education goals and financial need,” Schaffer said.
Schaffer encourages all students and prospective students to apply for scholarships at Chesapeake. The application deadline is April 1, and the application form can be found at /sites/default/files/SCHAPP.pdf
“We’re lucky at Chesapeake to have the support of so many donors who truly value higher education,” Schaffer said. “I’m amazed by the community’s commitment to help students make their dreams come true.”
