Whisking Up Success

culinary student Carley Sacks stands in front of her baked goodsQueen Anne’s County High School senior Carley Sacks is mixing her lifelong love of baking with training at Chesapeake College to build a culinary career.

At just 17, Sacks already has a clear vision for her future. Her plan includes culinary training in high school followed by a college hospitality program. She is attending Chesapeake through a career preparation partnership with Queen Anne’s County Public Schools.

“So far, I’ve loved the culinary program at Chesapeake Collage with Chef Jordan and Chef Derrick helping me learn not just techniques, but more recipes,” Sacks said.

Sacks was recently admitted into the culinary program at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI. She was also awarded university scholarships. Once she has completed her college degree, Sacks has a goal of owning her own bakery.

“My experience in the Chesapeake College culinary program will help me achieve my goals.” she said. “It has already helped me so much with getting into college and earning scholarships.”
