Women and Girls Fund Aids Legal Clinic on Campus

Chesapeake College received a $1,200 grant from the Women and Girls Fund to assist with equipping the free legal clinics offered by Mid-Shore Pro Bono and Chesapeake’s Paralegal Program on the college’s Wye Mills campus. Students in Chesapeake’s Paralegal program are assisting in the clinic.

Launched this spring, the legal clinic serves college students and others from the five-county region who are unable to pay for attorney services on their own.

“With the generosity of Women and Girls Fund we have been able to launch an on-campus law clinic that has helped people with limited financial means navigate through the legal system.  In addition, our students have been gaining hands-on experience in a legal setting, all while helping people in their very own community,” said Paralegal Program Director Bridget Lowrie.

Individuals in need of legal services are encouraged to contact Mid-Shore Pro Bono in advance of clinic dates for initial evaluation and intake by calling 410-690-8128 or emailing [email protected].
